Yevgeny Safronov, a 38-year-old Russian journalist living in Meudon, a suburb of Paris, France, died under mysterious circumstances.
According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by the French publication "Le Parisien" and the BFM television channel.
It was noted that the journalist was found fatally injured in front of the multi-story building where he lived. It is alleged that he jumped from the window of his apartment on the seventh floor of the building.
"Safronov was taken to the hospital but it was not possible to save his life; he died there.
The police found letters in Russian in Yevgeny Safronov’s apartment, drugs in the trash bin, and a chair near the window.
The journalist’s roommate was at the scene. Due to a language barrier, the police were unable to conduct questioning or clarify details," the report stated.
According to local media, some time ago Safronov sent a letter to his family indicating he intended to commit suicide. In the Russian-written text, the journalist stated that he was a victim of a hacker attack.
"All my accounts have been hacked. My 'Telegram' account was stolen. My text messages and phone calls have been intercepted. My phone was infected by hackers," Safronov wrote in the letter.
"Le Parisien" also wrote that Safronov could have been threatened with death. This was stated to the newspaper by a source familiar with materials gathered by the French police.
The investigation is ongoing.
