5 "JEEP" engines that never break down

In the second-hand market for crossovers (SUVs), the engine's lifespan often determines whether the purchase of the car is profitable or if it will turn into a constant source of expenses.

For owners of cars older than 7-10 years, the most expensive failures are precisely the breakdowns of power units.

Experts note that all modern engines do not "age" equally well. Some units operate stably for only 150-200 thousand km, after which a series of costly repairs begin. At the same time, there are engines capable of covering 300-500 thousand km without major intervention.

1. Toyota RAV4 (2.0 and 2.5 gasoline, 2AR-FE series, Dynamic Force)

Toyota traditionally holds a leading position in reliability ratings. The 2AR-FE series engines are known for their simple design and lack of serious defects. Among 8-12 year old vehicles, the RAV4 has one of the lowest rates of engine failures.

Real lifespan: 350-500 thousand km with regular maintenance.

2. Honda CR-V (2.0 and 2.4 i-VTEC, K series)

The K20/K24 series engines are recognized in J.D. Power ratings as one of the most reliable units. The CR-V rarely requires serious repairs even after more than 10 years of use. Its advantage is having a naturally aspirated engine without a turbocharger, whose reliability is proven.

3. Lexus RX (3.5 V6 2GR-FE)

Toyota's premium division ensures high reliability. The 2GR-FE engine can cover over 400 thousand km without major repairs. According to J.D. Power data, the Lexus RX is among the leaders in having minimal serious engine failures.

Negative aspect: higher maintenance costs.

4. Mazda CX-5 (2.0 and 2.5 Skyactiv-G)

The Skyactiv-G engines combine economy with durability. Among cars aged 6-10 years, the level of engine failures is noted to be low. These motors do not have the typical "ailments" characteristic of turbo engines and tolerate high mileage well.

Real lifespan: 300-400 thousand km without major intervention.

5. Subaru Forester (2.0 naturally aspirated, FB20)

Subaru's naturally aspirated engines are considered more reliable compared to turbo versions. The Forester is valued for its simple mechanics and stable operation. The main condition is monitoring oil levels and regular maintenance. /Lent.az
