A path that crosses the boundaries of engineering: Hanging fully 70 meters above the ground

The "Rodovia dos Imigrantes" highway, connecting the city of São Paulo with the coastal strip in Brazil, attracts attention with its gigantic viaduct structures and its adaptation to the challenging geographical conditions. The road, approximately 58.5 kilometers long, stands out as an international-scale engineering project, especially with its 20-kilometer section crossing the "Serra do Mar" mountains.

According to Milli.Az, certain parts of the route, built over the region's steep mountainous terrain, rise on viaducts reaching a height of 70 meters above the forest cover. This structure aims to provide drivers with a controlled and safe driving experience even in the mountainous area. Wide loops and slope balance have been meticulously planned according to the region's harsh weather conditions such as dense fog and precipitation.

"Rodovia dos Imigrantes" is distinguished not only by its structural features but also by its integrated technological management system. Meteorological stations, safety cameras, and variable message boards installed along the road provide real-time monitoring of traffic flow.

With this system applied during dense foggy weather when visibility falls to a critical level, it is ensured that traffic continues at a safe pace.

The 14 different tunnels located along the route contribute to the continuous continuity of the transportation line.

During the design phase of the project, minimizing interventions in the ecosystem was considered a priority. The distance between viaduct supports has been maximized to protect the natural life in the forest cover. The cleaning and return of water sources emerging during construction and tunnel excavations to nature is implemented as part of the project's environmental management plan.
