The war is spreading to the Red Sea and the Caspian, new fronts are opening - Reuters

The conflict surrounding Iran has entered a new phase.

Reuters reports that although the US has stopped air strikes that lasted for nearly two weeks for the first time, the confrontation has expanded beyond the Middle East towards both the Red Sea and the Caspian Sea.

According to the information, the Houthis supported by Iran attacked oil facilities located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, including the Aramco infrastructure in the Jizan region, with missiles and drones. Security forces near Yanbu port also tried to neutralize the missiles. In response, Saudi Arabia carried out air strikes on Houthi positions.

At the same time, Iran accused Ukraine of attacking a commercial ship sailing under the Iranian flag in the Caspian Sea. Tehran announced that a sailor was killed as a result of the incident and assessed this as the spread of tension in a new direction in the region.

The US, however, has stopped the air strikes after 13 consecutive nights. Nevertheless, Washington stated that its naval blockade against Iran remains in force. Reuters writes that behind the decision are concerns about ammunition reserves, military readiness level, possible impacts on energy markets, and risks of a wider regional escalation./APA
