The process of turning cashew nuts from their natural state into an edible condition is quite complex.
Medianews.az, referring to Milli.Az, reports that the cashew is not a nut picked directly from the tree but grows inside a fruit called the "cashew apple," which is not suitable for consumption.
The cashew fruit is harvested and the nut is separated from the fruit. The cashew apple is then crushed and turned into juice, from which delicious local beverages are made. The separated cashew nut is later roasted and goes through special processing stages to be completely cleansed of harmful substances inside.
Only after all these stages are completed is the cashew nut ready. This process clearly shows why cashew is a valuable and labor-intensive nut to process.
Additionally, the careful and laborious steps in the cashew nut processing serve to preserve its nutritional value and flavor.
