The price of cars brought to Azerbaijan via Georgia may increase.
According to Khazar TV, based on the draft law prepared by the Services Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, it is planned to increase fees related to vehicles purchased or re-exported by foreign citizens in this country. According to current rules, the fee for a transit number plate will be raised from 50 lari to 370 lari. This equals 233 manat instead of 32 manat at the current exchange rate.
In addition, the payment for preparing the expert report for cars will be increased from 100 lari to 180 lari, which means a rise from 63 manat to 113 manat. At the same time, the fee for filling out the customs declaration for export will be raised from 130 lari to 200 lari. This amount is approximately equal to 126 manat.
According to Eldeniz Jafarov, an expert in car sales, the Georgian side plans to take this step against the backdrop of increasing demand.
The majority of cars imported from the USA pass through the procedures via the port of Poti, and the increase in fees directly affects the buyers. In this case, a significant price increase is expected for cars entering Azerbaijan via the Georgian route.
