A powerful "supercell" type storm caused major destruction in the city of Şanlıurfa, Turkey.
Medianews.az reports that the natural disaster accompanied by a tornado, hail, and strong winds resulted in 1 death and 40 injuries.
The storm caused serious damage especially in the districts of Birecik and Viranşehir. The roofs of many buildings were blown off, and trees were uprooted.
Due to the events, education in these areas has been temporarily suspended.
The Şanlıurfa governorship announced that the treatment of some of the injured is ongoing, while others have been discharged home.
Although the footage circulating on social media resembles hurricanes in the USA, the incident reportedly occurred in Şanlıurfa. The moments when the tornado approached residential areas caused great concern.
