By the relevant order of the Minister of Science and Education Emin Əmrullayev, Elçin Vəliyev has been appointed as the deputy director of the Geology Institute.
Medianews.az reports that according to the same order, Elçin Vəliyev will temporarily perform the duties of the director of the institute.
Elçin Vəliyev graduated from Baku State University with a bachelor's degree in geography and a master's degree in landscape studies. He also studied oil and gas engineering at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in Ukraine. In 2018, he obtained a PhD in engineering, and in 2024, he earned a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree.
Elçin Vəliyev began his professional career at the Ecology Institute of the National Aerospace Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and has worked in the oil and gas industry in various capacities over the years. Since 2010, he has held various positions at SOCAR's Oil and Gas Scientific-Research Project Institute, and until his last appointment, he was the head of the Analytical Research Laboratory.
Elçin Vəliyev is a co-author of 102 scientific works, including 50 indexed scientific articles (25 international), 40 theses (25 international), 5 patents, and 8 books. He was listed among the top 2 percent of scientists worldwide, according to Stanford University’s list of the most influential researchers from 2021 to 2024.
In 2024, Elçin Vəliyev was awarded an honorary diploma by the president of SOCAR for his contributions to the development of the oil and gas sector. //Oxu.Az
