Ticks bites are more commonly observed in the spring and summer months. Doctors warn that improper removal of the tick can increase the risk of dangerous infections.

Medianews.az reports, citing Foodinfo.az, that disinfection specialist Dr. Nikolay Dubinin spoke about the most common mistakes people make when removing ticks. According to him, the biggest risk is the parasite remaining in the skin for a long time. For this reason, delaying the removal of the tick and waiting until reaching a medical facility is considered dangerous.

The specialist noted that the second serious mistake is squeezing the tick. If the parasite is squeezed with tweezers or fingers, it can transfer its gut contents into the human blood. If the tick is a carrier of infection, this significantly increases the likelihood of transmission.

The doctor emphasized that the tick should be removed as quickly and carefully as possible. To do this, tweezers, thread, nails, or thin sticks can be used. The main goal is to detach the tick from the skin without crushing its body. According to the expert, in this case, acting quickly and carefully is more important than searching for the ideal tool.
