The world's greenest cities

A new study has identified the planet's most ecologically sustainable cities.
Qaynarinfo reports that the first place was taken by Vancouver, Canada. London, where more than 270 skyscrapers have been built in the last decade and nearly 600 more are planned, is also included in the list.
According to the "TimeOut" publication, London, the capital of the United Kingdom, has been included among the world's most sustainable cities. Based on the new "Green City Index" prepared by "Reinders Corporation," specializing in climate solutions, London scored 66.85 points, ranking 10th in the world. Moreover, according to some experts, London could technically be considered a "forest" since more than one-fifth of the city's area is covered by trees.
Within the framework of the study, various cities around the world were evaluated according to six main environmental criteria:
* quality of green zones
* use of renewable energy
* air quality
* development of public transport
* bicycle-friendliness
* application of tourism taxes
A special weight was given to each criterion based on its impact on the city's sustainability, and the final "Green City Score" was calculated.
The discussion is not just about the presence of beautiful parks — it evaluates how efficiently the city operates for both people and the environment. The higher the score, the better the ecological conditions are considered.
London's public transport received a score of 64.5 out of 100. With a 12.7% increase in bicycle trips over the last year, the city's "bicycle-friendliness" score was 49.7 points.
Leading the ranking with 101.71 points is Vancouver, Canada. Overall, Canada showed very strong results — Montreal (77.71) and Toronto (69.72) also made the top ten.
Europe also held high positions. Oslo (Norway) ranked second with 100.57 points, and Stockholm (Sweden) was third with 94.87 points.
Gerrit Jan Reinders, CEO of "Reinders Corporation," stated:
"Understanding which cities succeed in sustainable development amid climate change and urban growth is more important than ever. This study shows that an ecological lifestyle can coexist in harmony with a modern, dynamic urban environment. London also proves that even large historic cities can prioritize sustainable transportation."
