Fight over making tea: In Quba, a daughter-in-law slammed her mother-in-law’s head against the wall

A family conflict resulting in the daughter-in-law beating her mother-in-law occurred in the Quba district.

Lent.az reports that the incident was recorded in the area of Gedikqishlaq village in the Quba district.

According to information, 26-year-old Mahizər Sultanova (the name is fictitious) during a dispute at their residence grabbed her mother-in-law by the hair, first slapped her in the face, and then slammed her head against the wall.

After the incident, Mahizər Sultanova was detained and a criminal case was initiated against her.

According to the testimony of the accused, she got married in 2015 at the age of 16 and currently has five children. She stated that the incident occurred around midnight because she did not prepare tea for her husband who had returned from work. After her mother-in-law asked about the reason for this, an argument ensued between them. During the argument, the daughter-in-law slapped her mother-in-law in the face, then grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall.

As a result, the injured woman sustained injuries of varying degrees. The son-in-law, who witnessed the incident, intervened by taking Mahizər to another room and separating the parties.

In court, the injured woman stated that she did not forgive her daughter-in-law and wanted her to be punished.

According to the decision of the Quba District Court, Mahizər Sultanova was sentenced to corrective labor for a period of 6 months, with 10% of her monthly income to be withheld for the state fund.
