Will the time of the final exam be changed? - Chairman of DIM

There is a shortage of marker teachers in certain fields.

Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Maleyka Abbaszade, the head of the State Examination Center, in an interview with Trend.

Commenting on the dissatisfaction of some teachers regarding the holding of graduation exams in March, the head of the SEC noted that checking written works requires considerable time:

"Graduation exams are mass exams. Checking written works requires a considerable amount of time. We have a shortage of marker teachers in certain fields. If teachers participate in this process and the number of marker teachers reaches ten thousand, the checking processes will also accelerate. Of course, here not only the quantity but also the knowledge and skills of the teachers who can engage in this work are important. We continuously organize exams for teachers. Teachers can obtain the authority to be markers by passing these exams. It does not matter whether they live in Baku, Nakhchivan or other regions. They can sit at home, join this work, and work in exchange for fairly high wages. However, teachers are not very interested in this because it requires serious work.

The knowledge and skills we check in March conform to the curriculum and are the knowledge and skills accumulated by March. A child who has not accumulated knowledge and skills over eleven years cannot collect them after March. If there is no ability to read and understand, this ability will not develop over the next few months either. We have designed the program accordingly. If the child does not continue lessons after the exam, it is the problem of the school administration. They can mark the absent student as missing, and at the end of the year, the grades for those subjects will not be evaluated, resulting in the child not receiving a certificate. The school must do this; rules exist and can be applied.

There is another issue. After taking exams in March, children do not go to courses or tutors. A three-month gap occurs in between. The main complaint of tutor teachers is related to this issue. Admission to universities abroad begins in January and continues throughout the year. They submit documents throughout the year, pass exams, and receive an answer from the university upon graduation. However, in our system, the final assessment is the first stage of admissions to higher education institutions. The first 300 points are also collected from the graduation exam.

After these exams, the child should continue lessons so that evaluations of other subjects can be conducted. If we organize the exam after classes end and results are provided in September, when will the academic year start at universities? If there were ten thousand marker teachers for each subject, graduation exams could be held in April instead of March. But this is not yet the case. Again, we appeal to teachers: come, enroll in the courses," she added.

It should be noted that some teachers complain about the difficulties of ensuring students' attendance after holding graduation exams in March.
