From today - June 16, the month of Muharram has started in Azerbaijan.
"Report" informs that this month, which holds special significance in the Islamic world, is the first month of the Hijri lunar calendar and is observed as the month of remembrance of Imam Hussein (a) and those who were martyred with him in Karbala.
The day considered the most important in the month of Muharram, Ashura, will fall on June 25. That day corresponds to the 10th of Muharram in the Hijri calendar - the day when Imam Hussein (a) attained martyrdom in the Karbala desert, and it is commemorated with mourning and sorrow.
It should be noted that in 2026 the month of Muharram will end on July 14.
