The anomalous weather engulfing Europe has resulted in Poland recording its highest June temperature in history.
According to Medianews.az, in the city of Slubice, located near the border with Germany, thermometers reached a record high of 38.9 degrees Celsius on June 27, marking the hottest June day in the country's history.
According to the report from the Local Meteorology and Water Management Institute (IMGW), this figure surpassed the previous highest temperature record of 38.3 degrees. It should be noted that similar severe heatwaves were observed in Poland in 2019 and 2022, but this year's wave has surpassed all previous records.
Authorities and meteorologists are sounding the alarm: in the next two days, hot air masses are expected to peak in the western regions of the country, with temperatures predicted to rise up to 42 degrees. If this forecast proves accurate, the absolute historical record of 40.2 degrees recorded in July 1921 in Proszkow will also be broken.
Due to the emerging extreme situation, officials have issued warnings to the public. It is advised not to stay outdoors during midday hours, to maintain water balance, and to be especially attentive to young children and the elderly.
