The hero of this episode of Baku TV's "Back Then" program was Rəna Ağasiyeva, a resident of Şabran.
She spoke about Şabran's henna night customs:
"In our time, henna night ceremonies were organized differently than they are now. The henna was brought from the groom's house, and a married and happy woman would apply it to the bride's hand. In the past, the groom would secretly be invited to the henna night. A tray was prepared for him at the bride's house. The groom would also put money on that tray. Now these customs are gone; I do not like the current henna night ceremonies."
She also expressed her dislike for brides dressing revealingly at weddings:
"Previously, the bride would not go to the salon; she would be dressed at home. A kerchief would also be wrapped around her head. Now brides wear very revealing clothes. Why should another man see her body?! The bride should be dignified and not behave frivolously."
