Scientific evidence shows that apple cider vinegar can be beneficial for blood sugar levels.
Medianews.az Reports Medicina.az, stating that researchers subjected 15 healthy individuals to six test meals.
The randomly assigned meals consisted of a 100-gram chopped salad sprinkled with olive oil, vinegar, or olive oil, vinegar, and baking soda. In three cases, after the test meals, 50 grams of white bread (which caused a sharp increase in blood sugar) was given. Blood sugar (glucose) levels were measured before the meal and 95 minutes after the meal.
The researchers noted that glucose responses decreased by 31.4% with vinegar intake.
This study has limitations. First, the sample size is small, so the results cannot be generalized to a wider population. Second, the test diet was applied to people without type 2 diabetes.
"Avoiding refined carbohydrates and sugar is undoubtedly the most effective way to regulate blood sugar. However, drinking apple cider vinegar may also be beneficial. Besides very small amounts of potassium, calcium, and magnesium, apple cider vinegar contains no vitamins or minerals. Nevertheless, it contains amino acids and antioxidants," said dietitian Igor Strokov.
