Moldova: mandate distribution formalized

On October 16, Moldova's Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the parliamentary election held on September 28.

Medianews.az reports that the Movement and Solidarity Party affiliated with President Maia Sandu secured 55 seats in the 101-seat parliament, the Patriotic Bloc 26, the Alternative Bloc 8, Our Party 6, and the Democracy at Home Party 6 mandates.

In the country, the government is formed by the party holding more than half of the mandates in the legislative body. Since February 16, 2023, Dorin Recean, supported by the Movement and Solidarity Party, has been prime minister. He is expected to be replaced by Alexandru Muntyanu.

The Movement and Solidarity Party advocates for Moldova's close integration with the West. Maia Sandu was elected president in the nationwide elections of 2020 and 2024.
