Former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the lighter sentence given to former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili compared to himself.
Saakashvili stated that he was accused not of embezzling $3 million but of "wasteful" spending related to official trips and was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment in this case. According to the former president, despite $6 million being found at Garibashvili’s house, the court sentenced him to only 5 years in prison. Saakashvili believes that Garibashvili will not remain in prison for a long time and will be released soon.
It is noted that Garibashvili will serve his sentence in Rustavi prison No. 12, where Saakashvili is also being held.
Recall that earlier Garibashvili’s lawyer announced that the legal formulation of the charges had been changed. According to the defense, the crime is not related to public service and the ex-prime minister only concealed income derived from his business activities./Musavat.com
