According to the constitution, the president appoints government members after the parliament's approval.
President Maia Sandu nominated Alexandru Muntyanu for the position of prime minister on October 24.
The government is formed by the party that holds more than half of the mandates in parliament. In the newly elected parliament on September 28, the Movement and Solidarity Party affiliated with the president holds 55 out of 101 mandates.
