Possible pension increase in Azerbaijan

According to the report of the State Statistics Committee, in the period from January to August, the average monthly nominal salary of paid workers in Azerbaijan increased by 9.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Medianews.az reports that pensions in the country are indexed every year on January 1 in accordance with the annual growth rate of the average monthly salary.

In Azerbaijan, men retire at the age of 65, and women at 64 and a half. From July 1, 2026, the retirement age for women will also be raised to 65.

To be eligible for a pension, either 25 years of insurance experience or the minimum pension capital is required. The minimum pension capital is calculated by multiplying the minimum pension indicator by the number of months of the expected pension payment period (12 years), which is 144 months; currently, it is 46,080 manats.

For persons who have accumulated any amount of pension capital from January 1, 2006 to July 1, 2018, their social insurance period is automatically counted as 25 years; otherwise, a monthly benefit of 220 manats is paid to persons who have reached retirement age due to age.

The minimum amount of labor pension is 320 manats.
