“Yeni Müsavat” is switching to a weekly publication – On which day and on how many pages will it be published?

“Yeni Müsavat” newspaper is changing its frequency.

Founded in 1989, “Yeni Müsavat” has been a daily publication since the second half of the 1990s, and throughout the 2000s it was published every day of the week for a long period.

Currently, the newspaper is published five times a week, and from January 2026 it will switch to a weekly publication.

“Yeni Müsavat” editor-in-chief Nazim Sabiroğlu said in an interview with Medianews.az on December 22 that they plan to initially publish the weekly edition in 16 pages: “However, it is not excluded that the number of pages will be increased later, and our newspaper will be published in 24 pages.”

So on which day of the week will “Yeni Müsavat” be published?

The editor-in-chief stated that most likely from next year the newspaper will be available at newsstands on Wednesdays.

Recall that from 2026, the Media Development Agency will provide financial support only for the printing of one issue of newspapers per week. They will be paid 8000 manat per month including the internet version. The change in the frequency of “Yeni Müsavat” newspaper is related to this.

Currently, the Media Development Agency finances five daily newspapers alongside “Yeni Müsavat” (“525-ci qəzet”, “Yeni Azərbaycan”, “Bakı xəbər”, “Şərq”, “Səs”) with five issues per week and allocates 18,000 manat per month including the internet version for these newspapers.

From 2026, there will also be a change in the frequency of “525-ci qəzet” and the newspapers “Səs” and “Şərq”.

Medianews.az reports that currently there are four more daily newspapers published in the country: “Azərbaycan”, “Xalq qəzeti”, “İki sahil”, “Novoye vremya”. Among these newspapers, only one receives financial support from the Media Development Agency: funds are allocated for one weekly issue of “Novoye vremya”, published in Russian.
