The renewed government of Ukraine has four deputy prime ministers: the first deputy prime minister—Minister of Energy, the deputy prime minister for Ukraine's recovery—Minister of Communities and Territories Development, the deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and the deputy prime minister for humanitarian policy—Minister of Culture.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the government is formed by the parliament (Verkhovna Rada). The Prime Minister, the Foreign Affairs Minister, and the Defense Minister are nominated by the president, while the rest of the government members are nominated by the Prime Minister.
Since 2019, Volodymyr Zelensky has been the president. In the Verkhovna Rada, the Servant of the People Party and its allies linked to Volodymyr Zelensky hold the majority.
No elections can be held in occupied Ukraine. The parliamentary election scheduled for October 29, 2023, the presidential election set for March 31, 2024, and the local elections planned for October 26, 2025, have been postponed.
Since 2014, Russia has been waging an invading war in Ukraine, announcing that it annexed the Crimean Peninsula in that year and in 2022 declared the incorporation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
