The electricity bill is 20 times higher than from the TV — These two devices "blow up" the meter

The rise in electricity prices is forcing many families to reconsider their expenses. Most people see saving only in turning off the lights. However, the biggest energy loss at home often comes from devices that are overlooked. Research shows that some household appliances consume many times more electricity than a television.

According to Demokrat.az, one of the devices that consume the most energy is the air conditioner. Modern models can consume between 500 and 4000 watts of electricity depending on the operating mode. This is about 20 times more than the energy consumed by a regular television. Especially during the winter months, air conditioners operating in heating mode are a major contributor to the increase in monthly electricity bills.

In the kitchen, the device that consumes the most energy is considered the electric oven. To maintain a high temperature steadily, the oven uses approximately 2-5 kilowatts of energy per hour. Moreover, many models continue to consume a certain amount of electricity even when left in standby mode.

It is possible to reduce electricity costs without replacing the home appliances. For this, a few simple habits are sufficient.

Adjusting the temperature on the air conditioner by just 1-2 degrees can reduce energy consumption by about 10 percent. Regularly cleaning the filters also helps the device operate more efficiently.

When using an electric oven, it is recommended to turn off the device a few minutes before the food is fully cooked. The remaining heat is sufficient to finish cooking the food, reducing additional energy consumption.

Cleaning the dust off the grills located at the back of the refrigerator is also important. This allows the device to operate with less energy.

In washing machines, the most energy is spent on heating the water. Therefore, using a lower temperature setting when possible can reduce electricity costs.
