The burial ceremony of 100 people who died during the protests in Tehran has begun.

According to BAKU.WS citing state television, both civilians and law enforcement officers of the Islamic Republic are among the deceased.

It should be recalled that the protests in Iran began on December 28 against the backdrop of the local currency devaluation. They were accompanied by intensified security measures by the police, including the use of tear gas. The largest protests took place in Tehran, with the most violent clashes recorded in the west and southwest (the cities of Malekshahi, Kermanshah, and Lordegan).

At the beginning of January, the Iranian authorities shut down internet and telephone services nationwide. It is considered one of the measures taken by the authorities to combat protesters.
