In Sumgayit city, an excessive amount of flammable substance being poured into the Novruz bonfire caused an explosion.
Medianews.az report cites that the incident was recorded in the United neighborhood area of the city.
Law enforcement officers were involved at the scene of the incident.
Currently, the causes of the incident are being investigated.
In the strong explosion, 11 people were poisoned by smoke, nine of whom were children.
The Republic Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Center and Sumgayit Medical Center jointly issued a statement regarding this.
It was reported that 3 emergency medical teams were dispatched to the call address.
By the emergency medical teams, 5 children were hospitalized in the Children’s Hospital under the Sumgayit Medical Center, 4 persons to the Children’s Hospital, and 2 persons to the Emergency Medical Aid Hospital.
Necessary medical services were provided to each of them due to smoke poisoning.
Seven persons, whose conditions were assessed as satisfactory, were discharged home for outpatient treatment. Currently, the treatment of 4 persons continues, their conditions are stable.
Previously, the Ministry of Emergency Situations had released information about 10 people being injured.
