"According to the current legislation in Azerbaijan, pensions are indexed each year based on the growth rate of the previous year's average monthly salary and the inflation rate of the previous year with the pension capital."
These words were stated by Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Majlis's Committee on Labor and Social Policy, in an interview with BAKU.WS.
The deputy added that based on the increase recorded in the average monthly salary across the country in 2025, pension amounts are also planned to be increased in 2026. According to preliminary forecasts, the growth rate will be approximately 9.2 percent:
"It is noted that the increases will apply to all types of labor pensions. This includes citizens receiving old-age labor pensions, disability labor pensions, and labor pensions due to loss of the family breadwinner.
Official data on the finalized average monthly salary for 2025 is expected to be announced by the State Statistics Committee in the first days of February 2026. After the official statistics are released, the relevant document will be signed by the President and the increase in pension amounts will be formalized.
According to the legislation, the increases in pensions are calculated starting from January. This means that the increase amount calculated for January will be paid together with the pension paid in February to the citizens. That is, persons receiving pensions in February will receive both the pension for February and the increase difference for January together.
For example, if a citizen receiving a 540 manat pension has their pension amount increase by 50 manat monthly after the increase, that person will receive 640 manat instead of 590 manat as a pension in February. Starting from March, the pension will be paid at the already increased – that is, the new amount of 590 manat.
Each pensioner can easily calculate the expected increase on their pension amount. For example, if a citizen's monthly pension is 500 manat, with a 9.2 percent increase the pension amount could increase by approximately 46 manat.
Official statistical data will be announced at the beginning of February, after which the exact amount of pension increases will be fully officially announced. The payment of pension increases will be carried out starting from February."
