One barrel of oil: 150 dollars – The minister warns

The military operations carried out by the US and Israel against Iran since February 28 have hindered oil shipments, causing a sharp rise in energy prices worldwide.

According to Medianews.az, Qatar's Minister of Energy Saad al-Kaabi said in an interview with the UK's "Financial Times" that as a result of the ongoing war in the Middle East, there is a possibility of a halt in energy production in the countries of the Persian Gulf, and in this case, the price of oil on the world market will increase further.

The minister stated that the conflict in the region could force all Gulf countries to stop energy exports in the short term, and the price of a barrel of oil could rise to $150.

Currently, Brent crude oil, which is considered the main benchmark in the world market, is being sold at about $89.

Energy analysts also warn that amid the actual halt of exports in the region, oil storage facilities are rapidly filling up, which may lead to a reduction in crude oil production in the Gulf countries.

Saad al-Kaabi said that if oil tankers and other commercial vessels cannot pass through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, the price of oil will reach $150 within two to three weeks.
