Elon Musk, the founder of "SpaceX" and the richest man on the planet, announced that he paid 10 billion dollars in taxes to the US budget in one year.
Demokrat.az reports that Musk shared this on his "X" account.
"I have paid 10 billion dollars in taxes in one year - more than anyone else in history," the businessman wrote.
Elon Musk stated that this amount is the largest tax paid by an individual in one year. He added that after his death, the government will confiscate an additional 40% of his estate. According to the businessman’s estimate, he will pay the government trillions of dollars in total over his lifetime.
Previously, Elon Musk said that his record tax payment once caused the US Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) computer system to crash. According to him, the program was unable to process the excessively large amount shown on the check.
The businessman noted that officials were forced to urgently update the software to accept the payment.
