The number of people who died during the large-scale protests in Iran has reached 5,000. Approximately 500 of them are security service employees.

The official noted that some of the heaviest clashes and the highest death toll were recorded in northwestern Iran, where separatists are active.
The HRANA human rights group announced on Saturday that the death toll had reached 3,308. It also stated that more than 24,000 people have been arrested in Iran.
