The trial of 45-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami, accused of assassinating Japan's former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, has concluded.
Medianews.az reports that Tetsuya Yamagami has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
The assassination attempt on S. Abe took place on July 8, 2022, while he was giving a speech in Nara city ahead of the upper house parliamentary elections. Japanese citizen Tetsuya Yamagami fired twice at the former prime minister with a homemade firearm. The 67-year-old politician was urgently transported by helicopter to the hospital. Despite doctors' efforts lasting several hours to save his life, it was not possible to rescue him.
