The Swedish Coast Guard inspected the dry cargo ship "Hui Yuan," flying the Panamanian flag, which was traveling from Russia to Las Palmas, Spain.
The ship's crew is accused of violating environmental legislation by discharging coal dust into the open sea. The Coast Guard personnel recorded the process of coal residues being discharged directly into the water from the ship's deck.
Currently, the ship is anchored off the coast of the Swedish city of Ystad under the instructions of the prosecutor's office. Hokan Andersson, a prosecutor from the Swedish National Department for Environment and Labor Issues, confirmed that charges will be brought against the ship's captain.
"The Coast Guard caught the ship discharging coal dust into the sea from the deck. This is a violation of the Environmental Code. We want to interrogate the captain," said H. Andersson./Oxu.Az
