France has refused to support the US blockade of the Hormuz Strait and called this step contrary to international law.
Medianews.az reports that France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian spoke about this on RFI's broadcast.
The minister stated that the movement of ships in international waters is the common property of humanity: "This blockade should be lifted as soon as possible. In fact, both the US and Iran are alternately closing the strait using the same pressure lever."
Le Drian warned that a long-term blockade would deal a heavy blow to the global economy and citizens' purchasing power.
"We cannot allow this conflict to hold the global economy hostage," he emphasized.//Publika.az
