The final match of the Africa Cup of Nations has been held.
"Qafqazinfo" reports that in the decisive game, the national teams of Senegal and Morocco faced each other.
The match held at the Moulay Abdullah Sports Complex was won by the Senegal national team – 1:0.
No goals were scored during the regular time. Therefore, the winner was determined in extra time. In the 94th minute, Pap Gaye scored the goal that brought victory to the Senegal national team.
There was also a scandal in the final game.
Namely, Senegal's head coach Pap Tiav protested the penalty awarded against his team in the 90+8th minute and took the team off the field. Before that, a goal scored by the Senegalese in the 90+2nd minute was not counted. The referee Ashraf Hakimi considered Abdullay Seki's action a foul against Hakimi, citing a rule violation. Hakimi blew the whistle without waiting for the end of the attack, which eliminated the possibility of VAR intervention and the incident was not reviewed. This decision led to great dissatisfaction. When a penalty was awarded against Senegal's goal, the players left the field following the coach’s signal.
In the tense situation that arose, Senegal's leader Sadio Mane intervened and succeeded in continuing the game. He ran to the locker room and was able to bring his teammates back.
After this, the Senegal team returned to the field. The Morocco member Brahim Dias failed to convert the penalty in the 90+24th minute. Senegal's goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved the shot, preventing the score from changing.
Senegal won with the goal scored in extra time.
