The tallest and shortest players to participate in the World Cup have been determined.
Medianews.az, citing "Report", reports that Austria's national team goalkeeper Florian Wiele is the tallest football player in the World Cup.
The goalkeeper, who is 2.05 meters tall, has also set a new record in this indicator. The previous record belonged to the Dutch goalkeeper Andries Noppert (2.03 meters), who participated in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. Alongside F. Wiele, England national team player Dan Burn (2.01 meters), Colombian goalkeeper Alvaro Montero (2.01 meters), and Bosnia and Herzegovina national team defender Stepan Radelić (2.01 meters) also rank among the "giants".
The shortest player of DC-2026 is Caesar Yanis (1.60 meters). He is followed by Curaçao forward Jeremy Antonisse, who is 1.64 meters tall. There is a 41 centimeter height difference between England's Dan Burn and Caesar Yanis, which is recorded as a new record. Until now, the largest height difference recorded between opponents on the field in World Cup history was 39 centimeters, which occurred at the 2006 World Cup held in Germany between Serbia's Nikola Žigić and Ivory Coast's Bakari Koné. Incidentally, Panama and England teams will face each other in the last match of Group L.
It should be noted that 48 teams will participate in DC-2026, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
