Approximately 20,000 residents have been evacuated due to a 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu province, China.

AZERTAC reports, citing the provincial emergency response headquarters, that as a result of the underground tremor, houses, administrative and social buildings were damaged in Tebo district of the prefecture, with cracks forming in the structures. Although no casualties were reported, considering the possibility of the buildings collapsing, a decision was made to evacuate 20,000 residents. They have been placed in temporary shelters.

According to the China Seismological Center, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred at 14:56 local time (10:56 Baku time) in Tebo district. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
