The main wave of evacuation of Russian specialists from the territory of Iran's "Bushehr" NPP has begun.
This was reported by Aleksey Likhachov, the head of the state corporation "Rosatom."
According to him, a total of 198 people will be evacuated by buses. The company's employees will cross the entire country within 2.5-3 days and reach Armenia.
The head of the state corporation also added that as a result of a strike on the station area, one employee of the enterprise's security service was killed. He also noted that Israeli and US representatives have been informed about the evacuation process of the Russian specialists.
The evacuation decision was made against the background of the ongoing military operation against Iran by the US and Israel, which began on February 28.
"Bushehr" NPP is the only nuclear power plant in Iran built with Russia's participation. The enterprise is located in the southwest of the country. Since February 28, the US and Israel have been conducting military operations against Iran, and under these circumstances, a decision was made to withdraw the personnel.
The employees are being sent to Armenia, which is Russia's ally within the CSTO and has a land border with Iran. The length of this border is 44 km./publika.az
