This step causes Iran more than 37 million dollars in damage daily.

The U.S. Department of State has commented on the ongoing internet outages in Iran on its Persian-language "X" account.

Medianews.az, citing the "Free Iran" channel, reports that the department has considered the internet blackout in Iran as a targeted policy aimed at keeping the society under control, stating that the Islamic Republic uses the internet as a "means to silence and impoverish the people."

The post emphasized that the daily cutting or complete shutdown of the internet causes more than 37 million dollars in damage to the Iranian economy every day, cripples business activities, and increases financial pressure on families.

The department also stated that while the Iranian people are deprived of internet access and economic opportunities, officials of the Islamic Republic continue to use the internet to spread misinformation and remain in power. It was noted that the internet shutdown clearly shows that the official Tehran is much more afraid of a prosperous and conscious Iran.
