Lines split in Baku Metro: When will the work be finished?

"The line separation project is currently being carried out in accordance with the sequence of the works we have started."

Milli.Az reports that this was said by Bakhtiyar Mammadov, head of the press service of the "Baku Metro" JSC, in his statement to journalists.

According to him, within the framework of the project, works in two drilling-preparation shafts located near the 28 May and Jafar Jabbarly stations have already been completed. Currently, the tunnel level has been reached, and preparations for the physical separation of the lines have begun. Construction works are carried out using special and reliable methods, taking into account the geological characteristics of the area. The physical separation process of the lines is expected to last a total of 11 months.

Bakhtiyar Mammadov stated that other infrastructure projects are being implemented simultaneously. Specifically, excavation works have begun for a new pedestrian tunnel between the 28 May and Jafar Jabbarly stations. Near the "Icherisheher" station, the stage of relocating communication lines for the construction of a turning chamber is being carried out. It was noted that these works are carried out without damaging the surrounding buildings and existing infrastructure.

The statement also emphasized that works continue at the Darnagul Electric Depot. It was reported that the road infrastructure for the first phase has been completed, and the construction of 7 areas intended for train repair and maintenance has begun. At the same time, together with the State Agency for Motor Roads, the construction of both an automobile and a pedestrian transit tunnel is continuing using an open method.

According to Bakhtiyar Mammadov, the main works on the line separation project will start within this year, and the full physical separation of the lines is planned for the next year. In addition, it is planned to start the construction of two electrical substations within the current year.
