According to the information as of today, 109 out of 193 UN members recognize Kosovo as an independent state. Among them are Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania from the former USSR space.
Medianews.az reports that Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are among those who do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state.
Among Azerbaijan's neighbors, Turkey has recognized Kosovo's independence, while Iran has not taken this step.
Kosovo, which had an autonomous province status in Serbia, declared independence on February 17, 2008. The world's community is divided on this issue.
The most recent decision to recognize Kosovo's independence was made by Syria on October 29.
