The salvation of the Aral Sea remains a pressing issue for all humanity.
AZERTAC, referring to "Kazinform," reports that Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this during his speech at the session of the National Kurultai.
The Head of State emphasized that the Aral Sea problem has gone beyond the borders of a single country and requires a systematic approach and cooperation. He noted that he has raised this issue repeatedly at international forums.
"It is impossible not to solve the Aral Sea issue. Saving the Aral Sea remains an urgent matter for all humanity. I have raised this issue many times at international forums," the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recalled that thanks to purposeful efforts carried out over many years, the Northern Aral Sea has been preserved. He mentioned that five years have passed since the start of the sea restoration project. "There will be a real opportunity to raise the water level of the Small Aral Sea," the Head of State said. The President stressed the importance of continuing systematic work to restore the ecosystem of the Aral Sea region, as well as the necessity of active participation of the international community in solving this ecological problem.
