Foods that bring sleep

The foods you choose before going to bed directly affect your sleep.

Milli.Az reports that this was stated by Russian somnologist Valeriya Bonadykova.

"Foods containing tryptophan should be eaten at dinner. Tryptophan is an amino acid involved in the synthesis of the sleep hormone melatonin. They include turkey, fish, eggs, milk, oats, and whole wheat bread. Also, complex carbohydrates help in better utilization of tryptophan.

It is beneficial to add a small amount of green vegetables or nuts to the evening meal because the magnesium content reduces tension and anxiety. Drinks that help with sleep such as rum, lemon balm, and lavender teas are recommended. Low-fat warm milk can also accelerate sleep because it stimulates the secretion of serotonin and melatonin.

The somnologist also noted that one should avoid coffee, alcohol, carbonated drinks, strong tea, and energy drinks in the evening, as they irritate the nervous system and disrupt sleep phases.
