Is it possible to enter paradise without praying? – Explanation from the theologian

In Islam, prayer is considered the foundation of all worship and its acceptance determines the value of other deeds. However, the Quran states that whoever does even a little good deed will surely receive its reward. In this regard, some think that a person who has many good deeds can attain salvation even without praying. So, will those who do not pray go to hell?

In an explanation to Medianews on the topic, theologian Rufat Garayev stated that prayer is one of the important acts of worship in Islam:

“It is stated that one of the five obligatory pillars of Islam is prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says: 'Prayer is the pillar of religion.' Just as a building is constructed on pillars, the structure of Islam is built upon the act of prayer. When we look at the verses of the Quran, we witness that prayer cleanses a person from evil deeds. Although many of our people think, 'I am not ready for prayer yet, that is why I do not pray,' when we look at the Quran, we understand that this is a wrong thought and we see that a person cleanses themselves through prayer and prepares to stand before Allah.”

According to R. Garayev, just as not all who pray will go to paradise, not all who do not pray will go to hell:

“For this, there is a Qudsi hadith which states: 'Allah does not look at your outward appearance or your belongings, He looks at your hearts and deeds.' Shariah judges by the outward. The religion of Islam also attaches great importance to the act of prayer. It is indicated that a person without prayer will have difficulties in the Hereafter. However, a person who believes in Allah and His Messenger will never remain eternally in hellfire. Therefore, our duty is to make people love Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him). To show the path of Ahl al-Bayt. To learn and teach how to live like the companions. The decision of who will go to paradise and who to hellfire is given by Allah Himself.”
