"I don't know how he will behave in Iran" - Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump is skeptical that Reza Pahlavi can gain public support in Iran and come to power.

Medianews.az reports that the U.S. "Reuters" agency writes this.

In an exclusive statement to "Reuters," Trump responded to a question about Pahlavi as follows: "He makes a very good impression, but I don't know how he would behave in Iran. Also, we have not yet reached that stage. I don't know if the country would accept his leadership? If they do, that would also satisfy me."

Last week, Trump also emphasized his doubts about Pahlavi's capabilities during a conversation with journalists and said he did not intend to meet with him.

In a statement to "Reuters," Trump said that it is possible for protests to overthrow the regime in Iran, but he added that actually "any regime can collapse."

The U.S. President said that whether the regime in Iran collapses or not, the era will be interesting.

The Pahlavi dynasty ruled Iran from 1925 to 1979. Reza Pahlavi is the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the second and last Shah of Iran.

Reza was born in Tehran on October 31, 1960. He has been a prince since 1967. In 1978, he left Iran to undergo military training in the U.S. Air Force. A few months later, in 1979, the monarchy was overthrown as a result of the Islamic Revolution, and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi fled the country together with other family members. Since then, Reza Pahlavi has lived in the United States with his family. He received higher education in political science at the University of South Carolina.

The Islamic Republic of Iran was established in 1979 during the wave of the revolution. The head of state powers are exercised by the Supreme Leader elected by the Assembly of Experts. Since June 3, 1989, this position has been held by Ali Khamenei, born in 1939. The function of head of government is carried out by the President of Iran, who is elected by popular vote for a 4-year term. Since July 28, 2024, Masoud Pezeshkian, born in 1954, has been the president. The 290-member national parliament (the Islamic Consultative Assembly) is elected every 4 years by a majoritarian system (by districts). The current parliament was formed in the spring of 2024.
