"French soldiers will participate in the exercises organized by Denmark in Greenland."
Oxu.Az reports that French President Emmanuel Macron wrote about this on his social media account:
"At Denmark’s request, I have decided for French soldiers to participate in joint exercises held in Greenland - the 'Arctic Fortress' operation."
He noted that the first groups of military personnel have already set out for the exercise area.
Previously, it was reported that members of the Swedish and Norwegian armed forces would also participate in the exercises to be held in Greenland. According to Norway’s Defense Minister Tore Sandvik, this will contribute to the expansion of cooperation among allies.
Since last week, Denmark has begun deploying troops to Greenland. Following this, it was reported that NATO allied forces are expected to be redeployed to the island.
US President Donald Trump, when answering journalists’ questions at the White House, stated that Washington will take control of Greenland in one way or another.
"If we can do it easily, great. If not, then we will do it the hard way," the US leader said.
