Several families living in Canada and the USA have taken a resonant step regarding artificial intelligence. They have sued the company "OpenAI," the creator of the "ChatGPT" platform, citing losing their loved ones or experiencing severe psychological trauma as the reason.
According to Milli.Az, currently out of seven claims submitted to the court, four pertain to suicide incidents and three to psychological harm cases. The plaintiffs stated that "ChatGPT" in some cases directed users towards negative thoughts, which resulted in tragic outcomes.
The families are demanding both financial compensation and specific changes to increase the safety of the artificial intelligence system. Among the demands is the automatic termination of conversations when topics related to suicide or self-harm are discussed.
