These cheeses prevent dementia

Consumption of cheese may help prevent dementia.

According to Milli.Az, Swedish scientists have determined that fatty dairy products, especially fatty cheeses and cream products, can reduce the risk of dementia.

The study cited examples of cheeses such as cheddar, brie, and gouda.

According to the study results, those who eat more than 50 grams of cheese containing over 20% fat daily reduce their risk of dementia by 13%. For those who consume 20 grams or more of fatty cream daily, the risk is 16% lower.

The research showed that there is no connection between low-fat dairy products, butter, milk, and fermented products (yogurt, kefir, sour cream) and the risk of dementia.

The authors of the study emphasize that these results are not protective confirmation, only indicating a statistical correlation. Professor Emily Sonestedt from Lund University noted that the previously held belief that fatty products are harmful to health is questioned by this research.

The study tracked 27,670 Swedish citizens. Their average age was 58, and approximately 3,208 cases of dementia were detected over about 25 years. Participants recorded their daily dietary habits and frequency of eating in detail.
