How much have birth, death, and natural increase decreased in Azerbaijan?

In January-August 2025, the population of Azerbaijan increased by 0.24 percent, reaching 10,249,500 people as of September 1.

Medianews.az reports that there were 9.3 births, 5.9 deaths, and a natural increase (birth-death ratio) of 3.4 per 1000 people.

The report of the State Statistical Committee shows that compared to 1991, the year of the restoration of independence, births per 1000 people have decreased 2.8 times, deaths 1.05 times, and natural increase 6 times.

In 1991, there were 26.6 births per 1000 people; 18.9 births in 1995; 14.7 births in 2000; 16.9 births in 2005; 18.5 births in 2010; 17.4 births in 2015; 12.7 births in 2020; and 10 births in 2024.

In 1991 and 2005, there were 6.2 deaths per 1000 people; 6.7 deaths in 1995; 5.9 deaths in 2000; 6 deaths in 2010; 5.7 deaths in 2015; 7.6 deaths in 2020; and 5.8 deaths in 2024 were officially recorded.

In 1991, the natural increase was 20.4 per 1000 people; 12.2 in 1995; 8.8 in 2000; 10.7 in 2005; 12.5 in 2010; 11.7 in 2015; 5.1 in 2020; and 4.2 in 2024.
