Sometimes the cough that we consider a common cold and expect to pass can actually be the most serious warning sent by our body. This condition, which becomes more severe instead of weakening over time, appears as the first sign of a hidden danger starting in the lungs.
Demokrat.az reports that representatives of the National Health Service of the United Kingdom have warned that a cough lasting more than three weeks may be an early indicator of lung cancer. According to information published by the Daily Mirror, people often confuse this condition with the flu, cold, or remnants of coronavirus. However, experts emphasize that if the nature of the cough changes or if blood traces are seen in the sputum, this may be a sign of a malignant tumor.
Other important symptoms of the disease include constant fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and chest pain when breathing. Shortness of breath and loss of appetite should also not be overlooked. In less common cases, changes in the shape of the fingertips, sudden hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, and swellings in the neck area may indicate lung cancer.
Analysis shows that the main factor causing this disease is the use of tobacco products. According to statistical data, more than 70 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer are smokers.
In addition, regular exposure to radon gas, asbestos, and coal fumes also increases the risk level. Doctors consider the three-week duration critical for treatment to be successful and recommend undergoing examination without delay.
In other words, if your cough has not stopped for a long time and you feel strange weakness in your body, do not consider this an ordinary cold and waste time; be sure to consult a doctor.
