"According to the current legislation in Azerbaijan, pensions are indexed every year based on the growth rate of the average monthly wage of the previous year and the inflation rate of the previous year in relation to the pension capital."
These words were stated to BAKU.WS by Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the National Assembly, in his explanation.
The deputy added that based on the recorded growth rate of the average monthly wage across the country in 2025, an increase in pension amounts is also planned for 2026. According to preliminary forecasts, the growth rate will be approximately 9.2 percent:
"It is noted that the increases will apply to all types of labor pensions. These include citizens receiving old-age labor pensions, disability labor pensions, and survivors' labor pensions.
The official data on the final average monthly wage for 2025 by the State Statistics Committee is expected to be announced in the first days of February 2026. After the official statistics are published, the relevant document will be signed by the President, and the increase in pension amounts will be formalized.
According to the legislation, the increases in pensions are calculated starting from January. This means that the increase amount calculated for January will be paid to citizens together with the pension paid in February. In other words, persons receiving pensions in February will receive both the February pension and the increase difference for January together.
For example, if a citizen receiving a 540 manat pension experiences an increase of 50 manats in their pension amount after the raise, that person will receive 640 manats instead of 590 manats in February. Starting from March, the pension will be paid at the already increased new amount – that is, 590 manats.
Every pensioner can easily calculate the expected increase based on their pension amount. For instance, if a citizen’s monthly pension is 500 manats, the pension amount can increase by approximately 46 manats with a 9.2 percent increase.
Official statistical data will be announced in early February, and after that, the exact amount of pension increases will be officially declared. The payment of pension increases will begin starting from February."
