A strong explosion occurred in a coal mine in the Cundinamarca region of Colombia.
Medianews.az reports that 9 workers lost their lives and 6 people were injured as a result of the incident.
The incident was recorded in the "La Siskuda" mine operated by the company "Carbonera Los Pinos." After the explosion, search and rescue operations were conducted and the bodies of the deceased were recovered.
According to the National Mining Agency (ANM), the accident likely occurred due to the accumulation of methane gas. The agency stated that during an inspection on April 9, hazardous gas accumulation was detected in the mine, and the company was warned to strengthen safety measures.
The company has not yet made an official statement regarding the incident.
